Dear Fellow Parishioners,

As you probably noticed, the big blue barrel for collecting winter wear has left the premises.  This seventh year of the SERTOMA  coat  and winter accessories drive was a huge success once again.

It was my privilege to collect the items in the barrel from November 1st to February 4th.  I want to say "THANK YOU" so much to all who contributed.  I am so proud of our St. Gall parish members for the many selfless donations to aid those in need during these winter months.  Each week I was amazed at your generosity.

I do not have the exact number of items from St. Gall church, but the overall numbers collected were 4,386 coats/sweaters and 5,372 other items, consisting of blankets, hats, scarves, mittens, socks, and gloves-for a total of 9,758 items collected throughout the community.  This number of items surely helped to keep many folks a little warmer.

Twenty six entities in and around our community were the recipients of goods; 33 barrel locations were set up in Gardnerville, Minden, Carson City, Lake Tahoe and Reno.  Corporate donations helped to buy some new items to round out special needs.  So you see that this is truly a community effort.

A certificate of appreciation was presented to Fr. Mark to thank him and the staff for all their help in this endeavor.

Carson Valley SERTOMA is a community service club founded in 1978 by a group of men from the community and SERVICE TO MANKIND is our purpose.

Information regarding the club can be found at carsonvalleysertoma.org.

Once again THANK YOU for your enduring support.

God Bless!!
