Meeting Our Seminarians at the 2024 Reno Conference

The 2024 Diocese of Reno Annual Conference – The Eucharist: Source and Summit of Life, was held Jan. 5-6 at the Nugget Casino resort in Sparks. The conference hosted incredible speakers with informative sessions for all ages including our teens. It definitely was a time to “ignite your faith”. Two St. Gall Vocation members attended the Vocation session. It was at this session we met our Seminarians and were privileged to hear their sacred story leading them into the Priesthood.

We learned that two of our Seminarians, Anthony and Jacob began their journey at age 4. Both were inspired at an extremely young age to start Altar serving which led them deeper in love with Christ and the Church. It may have taken Deacon Francis and Deacon Rene a little longer to commit to the Priesthood but their discernment began early as well.

In answer to a question raised at the seminar, “How do you start the process to discern whether or not you’re being called into the Priesthood?” Anthony began with suggesting you go to Adoration as much as possible. He said, “We all feel we’re not worthy enough to be a priests. We all are worthy to whatever God is calling us to as our Vocation. Even if it isn’t the Priesthood, we all have a Vocation.” “Pray more about it and follow Christ. Put all your trust in Him… Do not have a fear of saying ‘yes and letting go of everything.”

Deacon Rene told us “to take that ‘leap of faith.’ If you constantly ask, ‘Should I do it or should I not?’ Eventually time goes by. If you don’t say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ you never find out or develop that vocation or where it may take you.  We ask you all to pray for our Seminarians and for an increase in Vocations.
