Dear Parishioners,

I’m sure you’ve seen the grotto I recently built in front of the church. Here is what inspired me ...

I brought the idea to Father Mark last October. I had already built two small grottos in my back yard and felt it would be a nice addition to the church to put one in the empty space in front by the grass. I have been inspired by my brother, Bob, who also built a big, beautiful grotto at his parish in Torrance, CA in the 1960’s.

I decided to do the work myself and get donations for some of the materials. Through the generosity of the Knights of Columbus, Home Depot, Basilite, Cinderlite, Mike’s Sheet Metal and some private donations, I was able to complete this project.

My son, Stephen (Bill), donated to and worked on the beautiful copper roof. My grandson, Noah, helped with some of the pavers.  After much work and many prayers, the project was completed on March 12, 2026.

I sincerely hope that everyone who sees and approaches the grotto with Mary in it will be inspired to pray to the Blessed Mother for not only their own intentions but also for the end to abortion.

Many Blessings!
Steve Coyne

Thank You for sharing your time and talent with St Gall Community! It sounds like it was a family affair! I especially love the roof but of course, you being a family of roofers! Blessings to your family!
