Questions for Reflection:

These questions are from "Questions for Group Discussion" at the end of part 2 of the 'Meaning of the Mass' study guide by Bishop Mueggenborg.

  • Do you have a favorite psalm?
    Psalm 139:
No matter where I try to hide, God will lovingly and persistently seek me out and hold me in the palm of His hand.
  • Do you have a favorite Gospel story?
Luke 5:4: “After he finished speaking, he said to Simon, ’Put out into deep water …’”.
Being a disciple of Jesus requires that I try new things, take risks, and “put out into the deep”. I should not stay in safe, shallow waters.

An observation:
Our Study Guide says, “The Homily, then, is our response to what God has said and our application of God's word to our lives.” Our small church community (the Lord’s Lanterns) regard our faith sharing meetings as an extension of the liturgy of the word because we intentionally apply the lectionary readings for the following Sunday to relevant parts of our lives.
