Bishop Calvo is happy to announce that Seminarian Thomas Nelson has been
called to Diaconate Ordination .
The Ordination Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 29th at 10 a.m.
at St. Pius Parish in Redwood City, CA.

Chris Kanowitz
is a
twenty-five year old Reno native who after applying to the Reno Catholic
Diocese, was accepted this spring as a seminarian at St. Patrick’s Seminary
in Menlo Park, CA. , for Philosophy/Theology studies.
Chris
graduated from Wooster High in 2004, and the University of Nevada,
Reno, with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies in 2008. During
his time at the University, he was heavily involved with the Newman Center
at Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church. He then worked for the Nevada
Legislature during the 2007-2009 session. Following his experience with the
legislature, he worked for the Nevada Supreme Court. Chris’s mother,
father and younger sister by four years, live in Reno.

Lawrence
completed his first year of
College Seminary at Mt. Angel Seminary in Mt. Angel, Oregon. Matthew comes
from a large family of nine children and is proud to be a graduate of Bishop
Manogue Catholic High School.

Eduardo Gutierrez
(Candidate/Philosophy) has just begun his College Seminary Program at
Seminary Hispano de Guadalupe
in Mexico
City, D.F., Mexico. Eduardo is very happy to be back in studies and looks
forward to transferring to a U.S. Seminary Program, once has his completed
his Philosophy degree in Mexico.

Lucio Zuniga Rocha
was born on
December 3, 1979 to Carlota Rocha and Salvador Zuniga in the small town of
Tacuichamona in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico. Lucio is the fifth in a
family of seven. He studied at the Autonomous University of Sinaloa and
completed a degree in Civil Law and passed the equivalent of Board exams in
March of 2010. Lucio was accepted by the diocese of Reno to begin English
studies at U.N.R. in June of 2010. Lucio is eager to learn English and
begin Theology studies under the sponsorship of the Diocese of Reno and with
Bishop Calvo’s blessing.
