Each year, three members of the St. Gall
Parish Pastoral Council complete their 3-year term of service and need to be
replaced by other members of the parish. Please take the opportunity during
the month of May to nominate individuals you think would serve as good
representatives on our Council.
Nominations are currently being
accepted and will continue through the end of 5:00 pm Mass on Sunday, May 25th.
No nominations will be accepted after this period. There are nomination
forms and a box for accepting the nominations in the Gathering Area. There
is no limit to the number of individuals you may nominate. You may also
nominate yourself.
The purpose of the Council as stated in our
constitution is to “promote community, to be a sign and witness of unity,
and to assist the Pastor in pastoral planning.”
To be eligible to serve on the Council
“A member shall be Catholic, registered with the parish, a participating
member of parish life, capable of mature discernment, and open to growth and
change.” From the
Constitution for St. Gall Parish Pastoral Council, Article IV: Section 2.
Nominees must attend an informational
meeting on the evening of June 17th
for a chance to learn how the Council performs its function and what is
involved in being a council member. All nominees who decide at that time to
accept nomination will have their names entered for drawing by lot at one of
the Masses on the weekend of June 21st
and 22nd. Two new
members will be selected by lot and one new member will be appointed by Fr.
Paul. The new members will assume office at the September 2008 Pastoral
Council Meeting.
Thank you for your participation in this
important nomination process.
